About us

We built the software we always wanted

For years we ran a successful Occupational Health service, so we understand the pressures our customers face every day.

The story behind OHASys

It started with our own service

Like many providers, we relied on spreadsheets, email chains and disconnected systems that didn’t work well together. Simple tasks took longer than they should, and administration often got in the way of delivering Occupational Health.

We invested in commercial software expecting it to simplify our work. Each system had its strengths, but we found ourselves adapting our processes to fit the software rather than the software supporting the way we worked. Spreadsheets and manual workarounds filled the gaps, workflows became cumbersome, and changes often relied on slow or expensive support.

The frustrations were familiar:

  • Appointments needed chasing
  • Health surveillance recalls lived in spreadsheets
  • Reports disappeared into email chains
  • Customers wanted quicker answers
  • Valuable clinical time was lost to administration

“We realised there had to be a better way.”

What we learned

Solving our own problems taught us what actually matters

So we built our own system — not to sell software, but to solve our own operational challenges. We wanted technology that reflected the way Occupational Health services actually work, connected every stage of the workflow, and reduced administration rather than creating more of it.

The impact was immediate. Administration reduced, health surveillance became easier to manage, invoices were generated automatically, and clinicians spent less time chasing information and more time supporting people.

When we eventually sold the business, one question remained.

Could we build something even better?

That question became OHASys. This time we started with a blank page, more than 35 years of Occupational Health experience, and a very clear idea of what providers actually need.

Scalable technical solutions

Tom turns practical operational ideas into scalable technical solutions, and keeps the platform fast, reliable and straightforward to use.

The biggest challenge joining halfway through was learning the language — Amanda and Phill had their own Occupational Health shorthand. But once you understood the operational thinking behind it, it all made sense. It was software built to solve real-world problems, not theoretical ones. — Tom Miller

We understand the real work

Incomplete referrals late on a Friday, chasing confirmations, DNAs disrupting clinics, recalls that cannot be missed, governance that leaves no room for error. OHASys was built around those realities.

  • Recalls that absolutely cannot be missed
  • Work that gets missed never gets billed
  • Balancing clinical quality with commercial reality
  • Governance expectations with no room for error

Support should actually support

We’ve been the customer. We know the frustration of unexpected charges, paid training barriers and generic helpdesks. That’s not our approach.

  • Dedicated onboarding support
  • Free training and regular workshops
  • Live Q&A sessions
  • Practical operational guidance
  • Approachable, knowledgeable support
  • Collaborative product development
